August 31, 2023. Julia Jayne was quoted in a Law360 article that examined the “constitutional tightrope” a defendant has to walk when facing both civil and criminal actions. With experience representing white collar defendants facing such parallel proceedings, Julia weighed in on suspended Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s upcoming impeachment trial in the state Senate.

August 8, 2023. Julia Jayne included commentary in an article by Salon.com regarding the Florida documents case against former President Donald Trump.

August 3, 2023. Julia Jayne weighed in again with Law360 on the prosecutions of former President Trump along with other white collar lawyers in “Trump Associates’ Loyalty Tested As Indictments Pile Up.”

August 2, 2023.  The National Law Journal featured insights from Julia Jayne throughout its article on the third Trump Indictment, entitled “How to Defend a Thrice Indicted Former President: White Collar Practitioners Weigh In.”

August 1, 2023. Julia Jayne was interviewed by LiveNow from Fox’s Michael Pache about the sentencing hearing for Ethan Crumbley and how the court will determine whether he should serve life without the possibility of parole. The US Supreme Court has held that a juvenile cannot automatically be sentenced to life in prison without the chance for parole.

 

June 23, 2023: Once again, Julia Jayne provides her insights to Law360 on the Manhattan District Attorney’s case against former President Donald Trump the article, “Trump to Draw Battle Lines over ‘Access Hollywood’ Tape.”

May 22, 2023. Law 360 featured an article by Julia Jayne discussing the protective order in the New York v. Donald Trump criminal case. May 2021:  Ashley Riser‘s CLE on The Economic Espionage Act is now available through LexVid. In this discussion, Ashley explores how the 1996 passage of the Economic Espionage Act was instrumental in criminalizing industrial espionage and theft of trade secrets in the United States, including guiding viewers through the history of the Act, offense elements, and what to expect in the future.

December 2020:  Julia Jayne joined several other prominent Bay Area-based white collar practitioners for a lively panel discussion, “Defending Trade Secrets Cases in NDCA: Insights from the Front Lines,” hosted by the Women’s White Collar Defense Association.

June 2020: Julia Jayne moderated a lively panel discussion on trends in trade secret prosecutions as part of NACDL’s “2020 Turning the Tables on the Government: A Virtual White Collar Defense Training.” This informative video also covered issues related to defending trade secret cases, including the strategic use of jury instructions and private sector referrals for trade secret prosecutions.
