Weapons Violations

The state and federal governments prosecute weapons crimes harshly. In California, a weapons violation can enhance the penalties for other crimes. In fact, an assault involving a gun or other weapon can be considered a strike under the Three Strikes Law: Individuals with two violent or serious felony convictions can be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison if convicted a third time.

Furthermore, under California law, if any person uses a firearm, discharges a firearm, or causes great bodily injury or death with a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, they shall be punished by an additional term of imprisonment of 10 years, 20 years or 25 years to life. Additionally, our attorneys are knowledgeable in Proposition 36, which changed the Three Strikes Law in California. We also advise on sentencing due to Realignment.

In federal courts, weapons violations also carry very steep mandatory minimum penalties. For example, the use of a firearm during the commission of a crime carries up to a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence pursuant to 18 U.S.C. section 924(c). Someone facing federal weapons charges must be represented by a skilled, aggressive and knowledgeable attorney. Jayne Law Group provides that kind of representation and leaves no stone unturned.

Experienced And Aggressive Representation

At Jayne Law Group, P.C., we have considerable experience with weapons violations cases. As a prosecutor, Julia Jayne tried many weapons crimes cases, including those involving the Three Strikes Law. Today, she uses her experience to defend individuals charged with weapons violations. An experienced criminal defense attorney can assist with charges pertaining to assault weapons and firearms which, in some instances, are legal to possess.

One word to describe Julia... AMAZING!

My case was rather unique and she made the process as painless as she possibly could. Long story short, I was involved in a criminal case at which I was not at fault. I was arrested and everything, but was cited and released the same night. I consulted with Julia regarding my case which was originally misdemeanors, but was bumped up to felonies! After three long miserable months of worrying (not her fault, but that's how things work with San Mateo County), Julia worked her magic and got everything sorted out.

Julia is very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I highly recommend her for any legal matter you, your family or friends may face. (Client testimonial)
